1991 WBF Championships - Premier Event

This was the historic first ever World Bodybuilding Federation Championships. It featured many of the previously IFBB champions – former Olympia and Grand Prix competitors. Possibly the biggest star of all was GARY STRYDOM, who many felt could be a future Mr Olympia. This year marks the 30 years anniversary of this inaugural contest.

The contest’s focus was both on entertainment and a showcasing the biggest, best and most muscular athletes in the world. There was a special emphasis on posing routines which reflected the champions personalities and style. The presentation was incredible with lighting, special effects and music, making this contest a truly unique and totally new event in world bodybuilding. This was to be the birth of a new era in professional bodybuilding. The video standard and production quality were exceptional.

The 13 specially selected competitors were all National or World champions and the absolute stars of the time. The contest takes you through their preparation, introducing each star, to walking them on stage for the prejudging, to their routines and the final exciting awards. We have never seen a contest like this before! Going into the event the crowd favourite was probably Gary Strydom and he did not let his fans down.
